UAEWI Unemployed and Anxiously Employed Workers Initiative

Today, in my search for other information, I found some interesting stuff related to HB 1379 (the 2009 legislation that made changes to UI). 
HB 1379 established the Unemployment Insurance Oversight Committee which has met at least 3 times; it appears that this is a group to whom we should be taking our concerns regarding DWD policy decisions and administration.  The minutes of their meetings are very interesting and suggest that we might find some sympathetic ears with this group; some of them have concerns with the policies being established by DWD outside of the public rule-making procedures.  See their minutes at: www.in.gov/legislative/interim/committee/uioc.html
The other thing I found was the policy memos whereby DWD sets requirements that aren't necessarily part of the legislation.  I have printed them off; however, I have not yet had the chance to read them.  They can be found on the DWD website--go down the left side to "Partners" to "DWD Policy" to "Policy Search".  The memos pertaining to HB 1379 appear to be 2008-40 through 2008-44.
